The Jimenez Legacy
In 1903, the Jimenez family established a company dedicated to the production of exquisite, one-of-a-kind, handmade cigars. In the late sixties, brother/sister duo Humberto Jimenez and Nelda Pozo-Jimenez, emigrated to Newark from the Oriente region of Cuba. For the past thirty years, Nelda has carried on the family tradition of meticulously hand blending premium cigars with renowned Cuban expertise. Jimenez Tobacco is a strong, matriarchal institution, as Nelda is not only the paramount presence in our kitchen, but the ONLY female master blender in the country. She is a pillar of community and praised for attributing her comprehensive knowledge and skill to a timeless craft.
Nelda Pozo - Jimenez
Jimenez Tobacco is a strong, matriarchal institution, as Nelda is not only the paramount presence in our kitchen, but the ONLY female master blender in the country.
This business has always been about family and an artistry handed down through several generations. The Newark location honors the Jimenez tradition and celebrates its origin; the illustrious Cuban seed- the very finest breeder of tobacco. Each leaf is aged five to ten years, and collected from regions all over the world. By combining tobacco from Brazil, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Indonesia, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, and the fine state of Connecticut, we can ensure that every premium, organic, handmade cigar is aromatically enticing and rich in flavor. We pride ourselves on excellence and a superior recipe that is sure to leave your palette pleased and your soul full with life.
Jimenez Tobacco is currently owned and operated by founder Nelda Pozo-Jimenez, her husband Armando Pozo and sons Armando “Mondi” Pozo, Ricardo Pozo and Peter Pozo.
