Which Blend Should I Pick?
Connecticut
Connecticut shade tobacco is a tobacco grown under shade in the ConnecticutRiver valley of the U.S. states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and southernmost Vermont, and is used primarily for binder and wrapper for premium cigars.
Habano
Habano cigar wrapper is a leaf grown from a Cuban seed, hence the word “Habano” or “Havano,” referring to Cuba's capitol. Habano tobacco wrapper is darker in color, has a much spicier flavor, a richer aroma, and has been grown in Nicaragua's Jalapa Valley and Estelí since the 1990's.
Maduro
Maduro is the darkest in color of the four and enjoys the lengthiest lifespan, from seedling to wrapper leaf. It goes through such a long process to properly darken and flavor the leaf properly. Because of these distinct parameters, to be classified as Maduro the wrapper requires a hearty, thick leaf that can withstand years of aging and still maintain its un-blemished cover quality.
Nicaragua
Most of the wrappers in Nicaragua are produced in Esteli and the Jalapa Valley. The volcanic soil and lush climates of both areas lend their uniqueness to the flavors and aromas of the tobacco leaves grown there. Leaves grown in the Jalapa Valley in particular used for wrappers are normally rich in flavor but have sweet undertones.
